Trinity is a thriving Episcopal community in the heart of downtown Covington, Kentucky, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio. Trinity was founded in 1842 and has been part of the urban life of Northern Kentucky since its inception. Recent major renovations have assured the integrity and beauty of the church building. Surrounded by commercial structures, Trinity is an oasis of beauty in the city’s urban landscape. Trinity long ago committed to remaining in the urban environment and part of that commitment is meeting the challenge of maintaining the historic structure that we have been blessed with. Trinity is a diverse congregation of urban and suburban families and individuals. Sunday attendance has grown over the last twenty years by over a hundred worshippers. Annual financial support of the parish has nearly quadrupled over the last twenty years as the parish has moved from dependence on a trust fund for income. The response of the people of Trinity to their God and their church is shown in this support and the support of the other major programs of the parish. Trinity’s Christian Education program has grown in recent years along with the rest of the parish. Sunday School for young members is thriving. Vacation Bible School attracts over fifty young people. Adult Education is diverse in its offerings – from Adult Forum to Benedictine Spirituality to Bible Study. Weeknight offerings include parish gathering opportunities for education and fellowship. Trinity has long been a vital part of social services in Covington and Northern Kentucky Community. Trinity helped establish a local shelter for homeless women and children, helped found the local senior citizen’s center, and provides support for those and many other services. Trinity currently supports many activities in its budget and by member contributions of time, money, and leadership. |
